Labor - Engine Heat & Preheat Integration Installation | Winnebago Revel
ODB installs engine heat recovery and cold-start engine preheat on any Winnebago Revel hydronic heater. Requires the Engine Heat & Preheat Integration Kit.
Free heat while you drive. A warm engine before you start.
No Winnebago Revel left the factory with a link between its engine and its diesel hydronic heater. This installation adds one: a dedicated loop through a double-wall plate heat exchanger. The engine coolant and the heater's coolant never mix.
What it does
- Engine heat recovery. While you drive, engine heat warms the heater loop for cabin heat and hot water, so the diesel heater runs less.
- Engine preheat. Before a cold start, the hydronic heater warms the engine coolant for easier starts and faster defrost.
Fits every Revel heater system
- 2018–2020: factory Espar on Rixen's MCS-5 controls
- 2021–2024: Timberline
- 2025+: Timberline 2.0
- Any year upgraded to Rixen's MCS7
Choose your installation type
Pick Bundled Install when this is installed together with a Rixen's MCS7 retrofit (2018–2020 or 2021–2024 Revel). Shared teardown, draining, refilling and testing cut the installation labor by 25%. Pick Stand-Alone Install for any other visit.
What the installation includes
- Mount the heat exchanger and bracket
- Route and secure the hose, with chafe protection where it passes edges or other components
- Mount the circulation pump and wire it on a fused circuit
- Vacuum-fill the heater loop to pull the air out and check for leaks before coolant goes in, then refill and bleed the engine side with coolant that meets your engine's spec
- Leak check, heat-up test, and commissioning of both functions
Requires: the Engine Heat & Preheat Integration Kit, added to your quote with this installation. We don't install customer-supplied parts.
Not included: repairs to pre-existing cooling-system or hydronic issues unless quoted separately.
FAQ
Will this work with my heater? Yes. It works with every Revel heater system: Espar with MCS-5, Timberline, Timberline 2.0, and Rixen's MCS7.
Does it mix engine coolant with my heater coolant? No. A double-wall heat exchanger moves heat between the two circuits while keeping the fluids separate.
Can I add it later? Yes. It can be installed on its own at any time. Adding it during an MCS7 retrofit costs 25% less in labor because much of the work is shared.
